About This Game

Afghanistan '11 is the follow-up to the highly lauded Vietnam '65, building upon and improving its concepts. The game reinvents the strategy genre by delivering an authentic portrayal of Counter-Insurgency and guerrilla combat via a revolutionary game mechanic.

The setting is 2011, where you lead US military operations in Afghanistan.

However, unlike the military officers in your family lineage, eliminating the enemy is merely a secondary goal.

The majority of your resources and attention are dedicated to winning the Hearts & Minds of the local populace. Your primary objectives include securing civilians, encouraging villagers to oppose the Taliban, and isolating Militia leaders.

Counter-Insurgency strategies yield better long-term results than traditional warfare, but a solitary mistake during a standard patrol can devastate your rapport with locals and tarnish your reputation in Western press.

The Afghan terrain provides excellent cover for rebels who utilize the mountains and natural caves for concealment. Employing patience and technology offers a decisive edge in this ruthless game of hide and seek. When a drone detects an enemy unit or opium field, you must immediately call in air support or artillery to destroy the target: speed is paramount.

Yet, air supremacy alone is insufficient to defeat the insurgents. IEDs, rocket launchers, and stealthy ambushes pose constant risks to your helicopters and ground forces.

Casualties erode morale and diminish support from the American public, so ensure your troops remain protected and well-supplied to achieve victory.
