Rinka Shishimai was a high school student operating her grandmother's small café, Lion House. Her life was typical for someone her age until a train explosion claimed her life while she was shielding her friend Hitsuji Naomi. Unexpectedly, she found herself back at the café, chatting happily with friends as if the tragedy never occurred. "Good evening, my lovely little slaves to fate." Shortly after, she was transported to a mysterious world where she met Parca, a girl claiming to be a goddess. Rinka discovered she had become a participant in Divine Selection, a twelve-week ritual involving twelve people competing to reverse their deaths. She was surprised to find her friend Mishima Miharu among the competitors. To succeed in Divine Selection, participants must eliminate others by uncovering their name, cause of death, and regret, then "electing" them. Rinka's journey leads her to uncover the truth of her death and confront her own regrets. She also faces the reality that Miharu would sacrifice everything for her and sees how far others will go to survive.
