Klaus is a 2D puzzle platformer featuring a self-aware story inspired by classic games and a tense narrative. As Klaus tries to escape a mysterious basement, he learns about his identity, the significance of his name, and the reason for his imprisonment. Throughout the journey, Klaus interjects with key story elements while you jump over spikes, hack computers, and evade danger. The game breaks the fourth wall by positioning you as Klaus's companion rather than the character; Klaus recognizes your existence and questions his situation, sometimes acting against your will to prevent his own death. A character named K1, a powerful brawler, can join you to smash obstacles and perform special moves. You can control Klaus and K1 separately or together to solve puzzles. Klaus also remembers his past through interactive memories that utilize unique mechanics distinct from the main game. Features include 6 worlds, 34 levels, over 100 rooms, 3 bosses, a non-interruptive narrative, two playable characters, fourth wall breaking, hidden collectible levels, an unlockable speedrun mode, and two endings.
