About This Game

When the mist descends upon Lake Orwell on Harlech Island, sailors spot a phantom castle that remains just out of reach. As they get closer, it dissolves into the fog like a mirage, leaving only questions for those who witness "Castle Strangerock." A promising scholar named Charlotte L. Wells is intrigued by this legend and yearns to study it firsthand, but Harlech Island is dangerous for an unaccompanied woman. She recruits her childhood friend, a fallen knight, to assist her. Upon arrival, Char immediately begins her research, tasking her companion with exploring the surroundings for artifacts related to the stronghold. Tragically, he is swiftly killed by a mysterious, time-displaced swordsman; however, death marks only the start of his journey. Brought back to life by ancient magic, the knight must find the legendary "Dragon Slayer" sword to survive. From Nihon Falcom, creators of Ys and The Legend of Heroes, comes Xanadu Next, a spiritual successor to Faxanadu and part of the Dragon Slayer series. Players engage in real-time combat against hordes of monsters across Harlech Island and the ruins of Xanadu, inspired by Kublai Khan. They will uncover the island's past through stone tablets and notes, revealing a story of magic, war, an ancient dragon, and the "Black Bride." The game features an interconnected world with hidden shortcuts and bosses, a combat system where skills are learned by using weapons, and translated lore. Unique systems include leveling down to adjust stats and fusing with Guardians for abilities. With 3D visuals inspired by '80s dungeon RPGs and a soundtrack by Sound Team jdk, the game celebrates the 20th anniversary of the original Xanadu.
